AR Lab nominated for RAAK-Pro award 2013
We are very proud to announce that we are nominated for a RAAK-Pro award 2013 for our highly collaborative (Studio Maaike Roozenburg, TU-Delft, KABK students from the Graphic Design department, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen) Smart Replicas project! With this project, our aim is to reuse historical objects by 3D-printing them and enriching them with innovative techniques such as AR. KABK Students, all the while, learn how to adopt new techniques to further their artistic design research. In turn, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen’s exhibition about the (hi)story of how porcelain came to The Netherlands is told in a new way.
Every year, Stichting Innovatie Alliantie (SIA) gives out awards for those projects that take knowledge circulation, knowledge advancement, projects’ results and sustainable innovation to heart. Last year, the AR Lab won 3rd prize at RAAK-Pro’s awards ceremony. This year's ceremony will be hosted on 21 November at the Fokker terminal in The Hague. The event is part of SIA's annual conference and throughout the day visitors can partake in workshops and attend keynote speeches - speakers include artist and designer Daan Roosegaarde and the Minister of Education, Culture and Science Jet Bussemaker.*
*By the way, a selection of Smart Replicas’ results will soon be on display in the hall of the Ministry for ECS and in the Minister's office.
