Interior architecture student Susanne Vruwink showed a new side of Augmented Reality in her graduate exposition. She built an interactive installation, which has the shape of a closed white room. The public is invited to enter the space one by one. Once you’re in, you are part of a totally different digital world. As said by the student:
A presentation in Augmented Reality by students of Interior Design for a shop from the Interior Architecture and Furniture Design department of the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague. The interesting point was that two* people were able to walk in the same emtpy space and both a see different shop interior through their AR headsets.
*Because we have two headsets. If we had more headsets, more people could see different interiors of shops at the same time in the same empty space.
The AR lab team is working on an Augmented Reality application in the field of interior design and architecture. In the demonstration below, virtual furniture can be attached to optical markers that are movable in real space.
